Lawmakers, lobbyists and visitors learned more about ATL during Aviation Day at the Capitol Jan. 31.<\/p><\/div>\n

Dozens of Department of Aviation team members touted the world\u2019s busiest and most efficient airport during the 14th<\/sup> annual Aviation Day at the Capitol on Jan. 31.<\/p>\n

Airport representatives set up large informational placards and passed out brochures and promotional items to state legislators. Some items focused on ATLNext, the Airport\u2019s 20-year, multibillion-dollar capital improvement program underway.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were very excited to inform our legislators about ATLNext,\u201d said ATL Government Affairs Manager Walter Vinson, the event\u2019s organizer. \u201cThat was the main priority of Aviation Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Student groups also visited the Atlanta Fire Rescue and Atlanta Police booths for replica helmets and other keepsakes during their tour of the Gold Dome.<\/p>\n

New additions this year included large monitors looping ATL\u2019s highlights and K-9 unit initiatives.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe video element helps us tell the story,\u201d Vinson said. \u201cTo add video makes it more appealing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aviation Day at the Capitol began in 2004, and it remains one of the Airport\u2019s premier outreach programs.<\/p>\n
