{"id":9360,"date":"2018-05-18T14:37:39","date_gmt":"2018-05-18T18:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.atl.com\/?p=9360"},"modified":"2018-05-23T15:05:14","modified_gmt":"2018-05-23T19:05:14","slug":"atl-honors-employees-in-annual-art-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.atl.com\/atl\/atl-honors-employees-in-annual-art-program\/","title":{"rendered":"ATL honors employees in annual art program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_9362\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dev.atl.com\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Employee-Art-Program-Annalie-Harris.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9362\" class=\"wp-image-9362 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.atl.com\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Employee-Art-Program-Annalie-Harris-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.atl.com\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Employee-Art-Program-Annalie-Harris-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dev.atl.com\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Employee-Art-Program-Annalie-Harris-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dev.atl.com\/atl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Employee-Art-Program-Annalie-Harris-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-9362\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">During the May 17 Airport Employee Art Program awards reception, winner Annalie Harris shares a smile in front of her winning work, &#8220;Koi on Tar Paper.&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b>By Anika Robertson<br \/>\n<em>Senior Editor\/Assistant Public Relations Manager<\/em><\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the fourth consecutive year, Hartsfield-Jackson honored talented employees who submitted artwork to the National Arts Program exhibit.<\/p>\n<p>Interim Deputy General Manager and Chief Financial Officer Greg Richardson expressed awe for the level of quality and range of artistic expression from staff and their family members this year, which were displayed on Concourse T from Nov. 17 through May 17.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of the role we play in bringing public recognition to your gifts by hosting this exhibit,\u201d Richardson said on May 16 to dozens of Airport artists and staff in the Domestic Terminal atrium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust think about it: More people will have viewed your work here at the Airport than the art displayed at the High Museum over the same period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Artists and their families enjoyed a welcome reception along with treats and prizes for the best works, which were judged by Atlanta artists Tori Tinsley and Tom Haney.<\/p>\n<p>Richardson told the group they should be proud of \u201cenhancing the Airport environment\u201d as artists as well as ATL employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou should all take pride in the work you do to provide passengers with world-class service every day,\u201d Richardson said. \u201cYour dedication and commitment keeps our operation running smoothly for the benefit of more than 103 million passengers each year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Airport Art Program Manager Ben Austin also praised the artists who ranged from youth to seniors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a practicing curator, I know how the creative process can develop greater connections and how learning new techniques and refining your artistic voice can provide deeper meaning to many aspects of life,\u201d Austin said.<\/p>\n<p>Annalie Harris won in the teen category for her work, \u201cKoi on Tar Paper.\u201d The 15-year-old, whose father works for AATC, says it\u2019s been a big honor to place in the competition, as she always wanted her art displayed at ATL.<\/p>\n<p>My dad encouraged me,\u201d Harris said. \u201cI love the [Airport] art so much, so it was a really cool opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Austin also announced plans to purchase 11 works from the exhibit to display in Department of Aviation offices. \u201cThese exhibits have fostered a greater sense of community here at the Airport while also showcasing the diversity and talents of our massive workforce to the traveling public,\u201d Austin said.<\/p>\n<p>ATL\u2019s partnership with the National Arts program will return in the fall.
